Virtual Live Debate with Peter Singer: βDoes the Effective Altruism Movement Get Giving Right?β
On July 10th, 4pm Pacific Time (PT), the nonprofit organization Open to Debate will tape a virtual live debate on the question, βDoes the Effective Altruism Movement Get Giving Right?β for future publication on its website. Open to Debate has invited our founder Peter Singer to make the case for effective altruism in conversation with New School philosopher Alice Crary, co-editor of the forthcoming critique of effective altruism, The Good It Promises, the Harm It Does. If you would like to attend this live virtual event, please email Gabrielle Iannuchelli at giannucelli@opentodebate.org.
A Video Release
Last year, a few members of our team visited Uganda and Rwanda to capture some incredible stories of lives transformed by effective giving. During this trip, we had the opportunity to meet Anthony Kalulu, an inspiring sorghum farmer in Uganda who is working to empower the rural poor in the remotest areas of eastern Uganda. Our updated version of You Donβt Have to be Brave to Save Lives features the story of Anthonyβs niece Gertrude. |
